The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Comrade Blade Nzimande, will address a mass rally of Johannesburg hawkers as detailed below.

The SACP will also update informal traders about progress made in the Campaign to Make Banks Serve the People. Key in this progress report will be the NEDLAC Summit on the Financial Sector which will be held on 31 May 2002. The SACP-led banks campaign has decided to use the month of March and its focus on human rights to highlight socio-economic rights and the role of the financial sector in our country in the violation of socio-economic rights. Specifically, the campaign has declared a Week of Action (from 16 to 24 March) during which pickets will be held in front of financial institutions and mass meetings will be held in communities.
