SACP To Address 60th Birthday and Congress of FAWU

The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Blade Nzimande, will address the Congress of the Food and Allied Worker's Union (FAWU) as detailed below.

In his address, Blade Nzimande will cover the following

This 60 years of FAWU is a tribute to all those generations of past leaders and workers who built trade unions and fought for workers rights in the dark days of apartheid. This 60 years also represents hard work and contributions made by communists in building the trade union movement in our country, said Blade Nzimande, SACP General Secretary.

Ray Alexander and the late Oscar Mpetha and, both SACP members, played a key role together with tens of other communists in the founding and building of FAWU over the last 60 years.
