The Deputy General Secretary of the South African Communist Party will unveil a memorial plaque to mark the building where the SACP was founded 80 years ago on 29 to 31 July in 1921 as detailed below.
This unveiling Ceremony will be followed by a National SACP Veteran's Dinner to be held as detailed below.
The event will be addressed by the SACP National Chairperson, Charles Nqakula. The event will also serve the confer the Moses Kotane Award for Outstanding Contribution to the SACP and the struggle for national liberation, people's power and socialism to Brian Bunting and Billy Nair. Between them, Bunting and Nair have more than a century of active membership, leadership, commitment and sacrifice in the struggle for national liberation, people's power and socialism.
Ministers Trevor Manuel and Jeff Radebe will also attend the above events. Both these activities are part of the SACP's 80th Anniversary Celebrations.
