29 November 2000
Tomorrow (30 November 2000), the South African Communist Party (SACP) will deploy its members and leaders on blitzes throughout the country as part of our campaign for an overwhelming ANC victory in the local government elections on 05 December.
Led by the SACP General Secretary, Blade Nzimande, SACP members and leaders will distribute leaflets in taxi ranks, train stations, bus stops and other public areas. Blade Nzimande will lead this campaign in Durban for the full day tomorrow as detailed at the end of this message.
An ANC victory in these elections is important for faster fundamental change in our country. But the elections are not the end. As the SACP, we call on South African workers and the unemployed to undertake the following key tasks in the transformation of o ur society:
The consolidation of local government is important in building people's power and the struggle for socialism.
