PICKET AGAINST PRIVATISATION AFRICA 2000 CONFERENCE

This is to invite organisations and individuals to join the SACP at a lunch hour picket against privatisation in South Africa and
Africa as detailed above.

Further, this is to invite interested organisations and individuals to a Planning Meeting to be held on Thursday, 11 May 2000
from 13h00 to 14h30 at the SACP Head Office, 7th floor, COSATU House.

A “Privatisation Africa 2000” Conference will be held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel from 16 to 18 May 2000. The conference will be held under the following themes:

• Translate policy commitment to privatisation into Results
• Linking African Business and politics to create a lucrative climate for investment

Amongst speakers will be Kenny Fihla (GJMC), Jeff Radebe (Minister of Public Enterprises), Stuart Cruickshank (Zambian Privatisation Agency) and Reuel Khoza (ESKOM).

The SACP wishes to picket against this conference and privatisation in South Africa and Africa under the slogans
“Africa is not for sale” and “Defend, strengthen and extend the public sector”.
