Tomorrow, October 19th, marks Samora Machel day in Mozambique. The South African Communist Party expresses its complete solidarity with the people of Mozambique, the FRELIMO party and the Machel family as they remember this great revolutionary and celebrate his life.

Besides his heroic contributions to the liberation of Mozambique, comrade Machel played an extremely central role in the South African liberation struggle as well as throughout Southern Africa. Without his contribution, and that of the people of Mozambique, for which Machel and hundreds of thousands paid the ultimate price, the history of our country and the region would, no doubt, have been very different. Comrade Machel’s untimely and tragic death was a loss to all Africans. His example and spirit lives on!
