The bomb blast spell the unwillingness of some right wingers to co - operate with the people of South Africa during this transitional period. It shows their disregard the efforts by both the Government and the people of South Africa to build peace, unity and reconcilliation amongst the citizens of our country.
The SACP membership and the alliance has express their outrage at this kind of action. Four people died and more than sixty seriously injured.
It was clear that the bomb was a right wing extremist act which is not connected to any grouping. But loose canons which were created by the legacy of the NP mob rule.
The SACP will be discussing the matter at its PGC to be held on the 25th January 1997 at Community House - Salt River.
The leadership of the ANC has visited the area and both the victims and the injured.
The bombing demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that the legacy of racism is still alive in the Western Cape. The black lives are still regarded as cheap by some right wing extrimist.
The SACP is sending its condolences to all the families of the bereaved. And we urge the police to bring to book the perpetrators of this anarchy.
