JOHANNESBURG - The South African Communist Party (SACP)'s Solly Mapaila has called on the African National Congress (ANC) to rein in President Jacob Zuma, saying the president has been disregarding ANC policies regarding the succession debate.
Mapaila who's the party's second deputy general secretary has been addressing supporters at the Moses Kotane Memorial Lecture in Rustenburg in the North West.
Last Sunday, President Zuma endorsed Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma telling supporters the former African Union commission chair loves the country and has a good track record.
Mapaila says the president must be controlled.
"If you want to restore credibility in the organisation; the top leadership must set an unequal example so that all the members can aspire to reach that higher example. But what we're now seeing is that there's acceptance to disregard ANC policies."
