South African Communist Party (SACP) Deputy Secretary General Jeremy Cronin has repeated the SACP's call for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

Cronin was addressing Western Cape delegates at the SACP's Provincial Elective Congress in Cape Town.

A parliamentary vote of no confidence against Zuma under Section 102 of the Constitution is set to be held soon.

However, Cronin referred to Section 89, which provides for a President to be impeached for serious misconduct or violation of the Constitution.

The party also slammed the re-employment of Brian Molefe as Eskom's CEO.

They also rejected Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown's suggestion that the Eskom Board had no choice, but to either re-employ Molefe or pay him R30 million.

The party also encouraged delegates and its membership to join protest marches against state capture and corruption.

It also reiterated a call by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa for a Judicial Commission of Enquiry into state capture.
