JOHANNESBURG - South African Communist Party (SACP) General-Secretary Blade Nzimande says a rogue intelligence unit has been spying on the party's leadership for some time now.
Nzimande says he does not understand why apartheid tactics are being used to monitor the communist party.
He was speaking at the SACP's Chris Hani commemoration at the Boksburg civic centre on Sunday.
Nzimande says whoever who is going out of their way to obtain critical information about the SACP's leadership will not keep them quiet when they see wrong things being done.
"Whether they listen to our phones or not, they are not going to destroy the South African Communist Party."
He says the party could grow beyond its almost 300,000 members.
"That's why comrades, let us go and deliberately grow the SACP."
Nzimande says the party is sidelined by the ruling party during decision-making and the SACP should not be expected to support the outcome of such decisions.
He said the SACP will not be part of the wrong decisions taken by the ruling party.
The SACP has resolved that President Jacob Zuma is no longer fit to hold office and should step down.
He said it is about time the SACP focused on itself as a movement and grew itself.
Nzimande said the tripartite alliance was bigger than any individual, and persons who destroyed the ANC from within should be held to account.
He also criticised government's handling of state capture and said something should be done immediately.
