The newly elected South African Communist Party (SACP) Free State provincial leadership has welcomed the African National Congress (ANC) nomination of Olly Mlamleli as Executive Mayor of Mangaung Metro.

Mlamleli`s nomination was announced at the party`s NEC meeting at Gallagher estate in Johannesburg.

Charles Stofile is the incoming SACP provincial Secretary. He was elected at the 7th provincial congress at Aldam resort near Ventersburg.

The SACP says they agree with the central committee`s stance that ANC nomination processes ahead of the local government elections have been flawed.

The party says they would have preferred continuity of leadership for the Mangaung Metro however they support Mlamleli`s candidacy for the sake of unity in the alliance.

Charles Stofile says: "It`s something that we can support and we believe it should not be about using state resources against unintended programmes."

SACP maintains that the alliance is stronger than ever and says they will work hard to ensure that the ANC comes out victorious in the local government elections.

SACP second general secretary Solly Mapaila says,"We indicate to the people that this government is a government that they can put their trust on to take forward their interests."

The party has reiterated that it rejects all forms of state capture and outsourcing.
