Johannesburg - ANC alliance partners in Gauteng have sent condolences to the families of the ten ANC volunteers who died in a bus crash while returning from the party's 2016 manifesto launch on Sunday.
In a statement the SACP said, "On behalf of the leadership and members of our party, we express our heartfelt condolences to families, comrades and friends of the deceased. This is a shared loss for the SACP in the Gauteng province."
The SACP thanked rescue workers and medics for doing all they could to save more lives in the aftermath of the accident.
"On its part the SACP structures have been activated to provide relief and support to families during their difficult and trying time. Our deepest sympathies are extended to our movement as a whole.
"We also pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured and admitted in various health facilities," it said.
Cosatu also sent its condolences to the families of the deceased and to the ANC.
The accident took place between Winburg and Ventersburg in the Free State. The bus was carrying ANC supporters who were returning home to the Ekhuruleni region in Gauteng after the party's launch of it election manifesto in Port Elizabeth.
Fifty nine passengers were injured, 20 seriously, with one in a critical condition.
