The South African Communist party led a protest march in Pretoria on Friday against granting parole to Janusz Waluz‚ who assassinated Chris Hani 23 years ago this month.

The alliance march‚ from Pretoria's Church Square to the Kgosi Mampuru II prison‚ included members of labour federation Cosatu‚ the South African National Civic Organisation.

The protesters expressed their support for Justice Minister Michael Masutha's decision to appeal the court judgment granting Janusz Waluz parole.

"We called on the correctional services centre to continue to not to release … Waluz until he served his full sentence‚ unless he makes a full truthful disclosure about the circumstances pertaining to the murder of Hani‚" the SACP said in a statement on Friday.
