The South African Communist Party (SACP) general secretary Blade Nzimande says all forms of racism must be criminalised. He was speaking at party`s 21 commemoration of Joe Slovo in Avalon cemetery, Soweto, on Wednesday.
Nzimande says all efforts deterring the country from the path paved by the likes of Joe Slovo must be dealt with.
Slovo was one of the active members of the liberation struggle. He was appointed General Secretary of the SACP in 1987 following the death of Moses Mabhida.
Slovo was well known for his contribution towards drafting the Freedom Charter and also the Chief of staff of Umkhonto we Sizwe.
Nzimande says the SACP will continue where Slovo left off. "This year is going to be 20 years since the adoption of our constitution and comrade Joe Slovo played a very important role in the drafting process of the constitution and we need to intensify the struggle against racism in honour of Joe Slovo."
