The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Cape Metro launched the 2015/2016 Red October Campaign with a march against loans allegedly offered to social grant beneficiaries in Khayelitsha, on Saturday.
This year, the Red October campaign is focusing on transformation of the financial sector to serve the people, including the transformation of the South African media.
The district marched to the office of Net1 Financial service, a company that issues loans to the social grants beneficiaries.
However, upon arrival at the offices of the so-called loans shark, officials refused to speak to the marchers. The marchers said they had also invited officials from the National Credit Regulator. The SACP is planning to open a case against Net1.
