TWO people were killed and four others injured in an accident on the N1 South just after the Maraisburg offramp.
Spokesman Nick Dollman said when Netcare 911 arrived at the scene they found a car had overturned on the highway and had come to a standstill against a tree trunk.
"We found six victims at the scene who had been ejected and scattered because the car had overturned," Dollman said.
Two of the passengers died instantly at the scene and another two sustained minor injuries. The two other passengers were in a critical condition and were intubated and ventilated at the scene.
The injured patients were taken to the Johannesburg Hospital.
The accident had a major effect on the traffic with the N1 partially closed for up to two hours after the mishap
