MEMBERS of the SA Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu) will decide on Thursday this about a strike against Johannesburg Metrobus.
This comes after Samwu said continuing on-going talks with Metrobus management had failed. Samwu's negotiator Enoch Sibiya said the only agreement reached between the management and union had been on "insignificant matters".
"We will discuss the mediator's report with our members this week when we meet and we will decide on the possible strike action in the coming week," said Sibiya.
The union has been at loggerheads with Metrobus since early this month over unpaid sick leave for its members and other issues relating to labour practices at the company. The union alleged proper procedures were not being followed over staff appointments.
Metrobus development and marketing manager Charles Hlebela said issues that could not be agreed upon were referred to the City of Johannesburg.
"We agreed with labour that operational issues we could not reach common ground on be looked into further."- thabisot@citizen.co.za
