Minister Radebe to launch the accelerated rolling stock program in preparation for the 2010 World Cup

The Minister of Transport, Honourable J.T Radebe will today the 21st of November 2006 launch the accelerated rolling stock program in preparation for the 2010 FIFA world cup as well as meeting future passenger demands.

The launch will also enable the Department of Transport through SARCC-Metrorail to showcase its interventions in addressing public transport challenges through its investment in rolling stock Upgrades and purchasing of new coaches towards 2010 world cup. The National Department of Transport together with SARCC-Metrorail will use this occasion to showcase the newly upgraded coach (10M5) which will serve the Tshwane corridor as part of the revitalization of rail transport.

The launch will also be attended by the Gauteng MEC of Public Transport, Roads and Works Ignatius Jacobs and Mayor of Tshwane Gwen Ramokgopa.
