The ANC's Johannesburg headquarters has received a formal complaint of sexual harassment against the party's National Assembly chief whip, Mbulelo Goniwe.

Goniwe is likely to face a party disciplinary hearing following the written complaint by a 21-year-old female administrative assistant at parliament.

The complaint was received by the party yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday, ANC spokesperson Steyn Speed confirmed that ANC secretary-general Kgalema Motlanthe had received a formal complaint against Goniwe and that "due process will now be followed in line with ANC rules and regulations".

When The Star made contact with the complainant, she declined to comment, but confirmed she was still working at parliament.

Goniwe could not be reached for comment.

Early this week the ANC's national working committee resolved that the allegations of sexual harassment against Goniwe warranted a disciplinary hearing.
