Plane with oil problem lands safely

A kulula.com flight from Joburg to Durban, with 104 passengers and six crew on board, has landed safely at Durban International Airport despite an oil problem.

The airline's spokesperson, Stuart Cochrane, said yesterday the pilot had to shut down one engine. "The pilot followed standard operating procedures and continued flying. I have to reiterate that none of the passengers or the crew members were in danger at any stage." - Staff Reporter

Five people died and 13 were injured when a Toyota bakkie carrying 15 people collided with a truck, Limpopo police said yesterday. The accident happened about 6.30am yesterday at Mmasealama Mission near Mankweng. Inspector Petrus Mailulu said: "It is alleged that a front wheel of the bakkie burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle." - Sapa
