SACP WC on the day of action organised by #UniteBehind against corruption and looting
29 November 2017
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Western Cape will be joining #UniteBehind and its coalition partners in a protest action on Thursday, 30 November 2017.
The 30th of November 2017 is an extremely significant day for the people of South Africa. President Jacob Zuma is expected to make new representations to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on why he should not be prosecuted for corruption. As the Party we have been consistent in condemning all forms of widespread corruption, looting mismanagement and maladministration within the state. These acts have plunged our country into an economic abyss, severely crippling the developmental capacity of the state, the effectiveness of SOE`s, the reliability and safety of our public transport system and completely eroding the confidence that our people have in government and the movement.
It is on this basis that the SACP will be joining #UniteBehind and its coalition partners in a protest action on Thursday, 30 November 2017. The protest will take the form of a "mock trial" of the President and a number of individuals deeply implicated in corporate capture and looting of State Owned Enterprises. We will then be marching to the Grand Parade to hand over a memorandum and the findings of the trial to South African Police Services. We will start gathering at Riebeeck Street outside Cape Town Central Station at 15h30 and disperse from the Grand Parade at 17h30.
It is on this basis that the SACP in the province calls on the working class, our alliance partners and all progressive people to join this mass protest by #UniteBehind.
