Cde Blade Nzimande SACP General Secretary and Solly Mapaila SACP 2nd Deputy General Secretary to address SACP Western Cape Provincial Congress
12 May 2017
8th Provincial Congress, 13 to 14 May 2017
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Western Cape will be convening its 8th Provincial Congress from 12 to 14 May 2017. The Congress is informed by our Constitutional mandate that requires SACP Provincial structures to convene every three years. The Congress will see District and branch structures from across the province converge to discuss and resolve upon political and organisational matters affecting the working class, our movement and society in general.
Our 8th Provincial Congress takes place during a challenging social and political period in our country and, indeed in our province. The thrust of some of the deliberations branch delegates will take up this weekend will include: a distressing economic climate severely affecting the poor; heightened levels of poverty, inequality and unemployment in our country, divisive political elements within our movement and a working class of the Western Cape that remains incarcerated by a neo-liberal Democratic Alliance government.
