Cde Dr Blade Nzimande, SACP GS to address OR Tambo memorial lecture tomorrow, Sunday 19 March 2017 at Umlazi Cinema, W Section, KZN.
18 March 2017
Cde Dr Blade Nzimande, South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretary will address the Oliver Reginald Tambo Memorial Lecture as part of the SACP's centenary celebration of the birth of OR Tambo and political education activities based on the occasion.
Had he lived Tambo would be celebrating his 100th birthday this year. He was born on 27 October 1917 and died on 24 April 1993.
He played an outstanding role in our struggle for liberation, national independence and social emancipation. He served as the President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1967 to 1991 and worked together with the leadership of the SACP based on the structural alliance between the ANC and the SACP and joint programmes in guiding our struggle for democracy and freedom.
The General Secretary will make use of the occasion to reflect on the challenges facing the ANC-headed Alliance and on the way forward, taking our cue from the role played by OR Tambo and his collective of leadership including the Alliance.
