Invitation to cover SACP Central Committee

25 August 2015

The South African Communist Party (SACP) will hold its first Central Committee Plenary Session since its successful Special National Congress held last month. The Central Committee, highest decision-making making body and policy organ of the Party in between National Congresses, convenes at the time when there are international economic changes that are impacting negatively on the economy of South Africa and the rand, and the bosses are reacting through an attack on labour, in particular, a jobs bloodbath.

The Central Committee will discuss the implementation strategy to take the resolutions of the Special National Congress forward. As a standing procedure, it will first receive the Secretariat Political Report analysing the economic and political situation and the broader social context affecting the working class and the poor and evaluating their relationship to other classes and strata. The Central Committee will receive the state of the organisation report assessing the capacity of the SACP to discharge its historical mission of developing itself to serve as the vanguard of working class and to lead it to tackle economic exploitation and the attacks it faces from the bosses.

The media is invited to a photo opportunity at the Central Committee and to the Central Committee press conference to be held as follows:

Photo opportunity:

Date: Friday, 28 August 2015
Time: 11h30
Venue: Protea Hotel Parktonian, 20 De Korte Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg

Central Committee press conference:

Time: 13h00
