SACP 3rd Special National Congress: 7 - 11 July 2015

The media is invited to attend and cover the SACP 3rd Special National Congress scheduled to take place as follows.
Date: 7 - 11 July 2015
Venue: University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus
The Special Congress will conduct a Mid-Term Review of the Party Programme, the South African Road to Socialism as adopted at its 13th National Congress held in July 2012.
The Special National Congress will receive and consider Central Committee reports, the Political Report, State of the Organisation Report and Financial Report.
It will also receive and consider discussion documents, among others on the second, more radical phase of our transition with emphasis on radical economic and social transformation and development; the state of the trade union movement; review of Party organisation and Party reorganisation to adapt and keep pace with the ever changing circumstances.
The Special Congress will further assess progress and challenges in terms of governance, a key pillar of our National Democratic Revolution in the current phase. This in the context of the 60th Anniversary of the Freedom Charter, the 5th democratic general elections held in 2014, the 2011 and 2016 local government elections, and our liberation alliance`s shared perspective of the second, more radical phase of our democratic transition.
Central Committee Reports will be presented by the Secretariat as led by General Secretary Cde Blade Nzimande, 1st Deputy General Secretary Cde Jeremy Cronin, 2nd Deputy General Secretary Cde Solly Mapaila and the Financial Report will presented by the National Treasurer Cde Joyce Moloi-Moropa.
As standing practice, senior leaders of our liberation alliance from the ANC, Cosatu and Sanco will address the Special Congress. SACP youth wing, the Young Communist and international Communist Parties will present messages of support.
Journalists and Editors in their respective capacities are requested to complete the attached registration form and email/submit it to the contacts indicated in the form, before or not later than 25 June 2015 12h00.
Registration in accordance with the completed forms received will take place on 7 July 2015 starting at 9h00 at the University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus, Lecture Room A4 behind Imbizo Hall.
The SACP will in due course convene a briefing session for Journalists and Editors to present a detailed overview of the context, structure and content of proceedings, including, closed and open sessions.
