SACP congratulates Dlamini-Zuma for being elected Chairperson of the AU
18 July 2012
The SACP is thrilled at the election of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as the Chairperson of the African Union Commission. We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate her and we wish her well in leading this important organ for Africa`s development.
The SACP hopes that the African Union will act firmly to co-ordinate Africa`s development and drive Africa out of a path of dependence. We also hope that the emerging signs of imperial interventions, regime change interventions and the establishment of foreign army bases in the continent will be confronted strongly. Similarly the SACP hopes that under the leadership of Dr Dlamini-Zuma the AU will confront the issue of democratization in Swaziland and the quest for freedom of the Saharawi people.
This election is a further affirmation by the continent of the role and trust that the entire continent has on South Africa and the ANC specifically. We wish Dr Dlamini-Zuma all the best in her endevours.
