Media reports and inundated enquiries on SACP's declaration to fight attempts at factional, corrupt and corporate capture of our movement

Following its Central Committee Plenary Session that was held from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August and its concluding press conference the South African Communist Party (SACP) has been inundated with enquiries on media reports about something called the "premier league". Both the Political Report and the Central Committee correctly condemned manoeuvres at factional, corrupt and corporate capture of our movement, but did not mention any names of individuals or the positions that they hold.

SACP is saddened by people being killed in motor vehicle accidents on Eastern Cape roads

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape is greatly shocked and saddened by the fatal road accidents that occur in the Eastern Cape. One life lost is too many and no life should be lost when that is preventable. We are gravely worried by the fact that so many people, breadwinners and future leaders, are perishing on our roads due to accidents.

SACP Thirteenth Congress Central Committee Press Statement

The SACP Central Committee met in Johannesburg over the weekend of 28-30 August. The CC was meeting in the context of serious storms gathering around the South African economy, notably in the mining and steel sectors. We have now experienced a single quarter of negative growth with the possibility of an impending recession. These issues, their relationship to the problematic structural features of South Africa’s political economy, the ongoing global capitalist crisis, and the impact of all of these on our society were, therefore, the central focus of reports discussed in the CC. Comrade Bheki Ntshalinthsali, acting COSATU general secretary, also presented a document on the state of the labour federation and the challenges faced by the working class.
