The SACP mourns the death of Cde Ronnie Mamoepa

The South African Communist Party is profoundly saddened by the death of Cde Ronnie Mamoepa (56), a stalwart of our struggle for liberation, a seasoned communicator of our movement and government. The SACP conveys its message of condolences to the Mamoepa family, friends, comrades and the people as a whole for the sore loss suffered. Mamoepa passed on in the late evening in hospital after suffering a stroke last month, according to the family in its statement released today.

James Aguma's resignation this week as acting CEO of the SABC is welcome news for the corporation and for this country's much-abused broadcasting audiences. The South African Communist Party has noted with concern the termination of the employment contract of the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) CEO Mr Thokozani Magwaza. The Department of Social Development has stated that the reason for the termination was a mutual agreement.
