SACP Conference of the Commissars
25 - 28 November 2012
Venue: Elijah Barayi Memorial Training Centre, 127 New Road, Grand Central, Midrand
The SACP is convening a Conference of Commissars from the 25th October to 28 October. The main aim of the conference of commissars is to discuss in detail the 13th National Congress Political Programme of Action in three fold; firstly, using the Marxist-Leninist classics as an entry point in order to theoretically ground our cadre, secondly dealing with contemporary relevance and application to South African situation and lastly planning for years to come thus determining what should inform our practice going forward.
The conference of commissars will touch on the issues as reflected on the Political programme which relates to, but not limited to, the Capitalist crisis and its relation to the workplace, the environment, the food crisis, understanding growth from a Marxist point of view, the capitalist crisis and financialisation. On the second day of the school (26 October 2012) the main focus will be unpacking the theory of Colonialism of a special type and how Capitalism in South Africa expresses itself. In the afternoon of the second day the conference will be led through an alliance panel discussion on the theory of the South African revolution, the NDR and the struggle for socialism.
On Saturday the 27th October the conference will in the morning deal with a panel discussion on Marxism and the State including discussions on the nature of the South African state and the attitude of the SACP towards the state. In the afternoon the discussion will be followed by a panel and group sessions on the Battle of Ideas.
On Sunday the conference will focus on strengthening the organisational capacity of the SACP and receive a closing address from the SACP 2nd Deputy General Secretary.
